Potomac Man Charged in Attack

On June 12, officers responded to a report of a 42-year-old female who reported that she was assaulted by the suspect after leaving a restaurant on Shady Grove Road. The victim told officers that while she was eating in the restaurant, she noticed that suspect, who was unknown to her, kept looking and staring at her. The victim drove out of the parking lot and unbeknownst to her, the suspect began to follow in his car. The suspect began to honk his horn several times to get the victim’s attention. The victim stopped at a red light and the suspect pulled alongside of her and yelled for her to pull over. The victim thought something may be wrong with her car and pulled into a nearby parking lot as the suspect followed.

The suspect parked beside the victim’s car and walked over to the driver’s side of her vehicle. According to police, the victim opened her car door and the suspect reached into the victim’s car and sexually assaulted her. The victim yelled for the suspect to stop and pushed him away.

The suspect reached back into the vehicle and sexually assaulted the victim again. The suspect then stepped back, unzipped his pants, and exposed himself to the victim, according to the police.

The victim slammed her car door shut and left the parking lot.

On June 15, officers obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, charging him with one count of 4th degree sex offense, one count of indecent exposure, and one count of second degree assault. The suspect was arrested on June 19 by 5th District officers and was released from the Central Processing Unit after posting a $5,000 bond.
